*This beautiful spruce is commonly found in Colorado and Utah, but is extremely hardy and tolerant making it a perfect versatile tree for most states! This tree can grow at minimum 12 inches per year but if it is placed in optimal conditions it can grow up to 2 feet per year! What attracts people most to this conifer is its waxy needles that give that luscious blue color we all love!
*Ideally it is best to plant in fall or spring, but it is possible to plant in the winter time as the Colorado blue spruce can tolerate a wide vary of temperatures. Avoid planting when the ground is frozen. These trees are hearty but still don’t like the freezing temperatures when there roots are still establishing. If planting in the winter time, to protect these young trees, use sticks or stakes to prop the tree up. To prevent from freezing, wrap in a vinyl guard or tree wrap.
When planting, dig hole that is as deep as the root system and about 3 inches wider that the roots width.
*When newly planted, water every couple days to keep soil moist but not soggy. After a month, water weekly unless in rains or snows in the duration of that week.
*Once planted, allow tree to get at least 4-6 hours of sun per day.
*Fertilize trees monthly with a fertilizer rich in phosphorus to promote better root development.
*I can ship same day on most orders, I just have a longer processing time for larger orders. If you are looking to order mass quantities, please allow the processing time to be about 1-2 weeks.
